Does that person really have the right to sell this house?

Dear George: Is the REALTOR® who lists a property for sale responsible for ensuring that his seller has the authority to sell a home?

Answer: No. Although, the listing agreement between the seller and the REALTOR® includes language where the seller attests to the fact that he has the right to sell the home, it’s the title company that verifies this information.
