Got a problem?

First, you need to determine if your agent is a Texas REALTOR®. All REALTORS® are bound by the strict REALTOR® Code of Ethics. And the Texas Association of REALTORS® has procedures in place if you need to file a complaint related to a real estate transaction against one of our REALTOR® members.

The Texas Real Estate Commission is the licensing entity in Texas and has procedures in place to process complaints against any real estate licensee.

To determine if the individual you have a complaint against is a REALTOR® member, or merely a real estate licensee, we've made it easy for you to take the following steps:

Before you file an ethics complaint, read these tips and information.

Is your agent a Texas REALTOR®?

Follow the numbered steps below to begin the complaint process.

  1. Type in the person's name in the File a complaint form at right and click Submit.
  2. If their name appears in the search results, they are a member of the Texas Association of REALTORS®.
  3. Click on the name. The phone number of the member's local REALTOR® organization will appear. Call it. In some cases, you will also see forms to download.
  4. If your agent's name does not appear, it means that he or she is not a REALTOR® and you should contact the Texas Real Estate Commission at 512/936-3000 regarding your complaint.
