Seller-impersonation scams have been around for a few years. The US Secret Service now reports a new twist on that scam where criminals are also impersonating title companies to steal funds.
The service has published a PDF with tips to avoid real estate-specific scams, including title company impersonation. The download also offers details on the scheme as well as red flags to watch for.
